Accounts submission extension and SECR

Accounts submission extension and SECR

As posted back in March when lockdown began, the Government, in conjunction with Companies House, has given all companies affected by the Covid-19 crisis an extension for reporting annual accounts. By extending the deadline for submission for three months, companies who have been affected by Covid-19 have the chance to avoid late submission penalties due to unforeseen circumstances. This can be done using the application found on the UK Government website on the link below.

What this means

This latest announcement is of particular importance to large and listed companies who are required to comply with the new Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) framework. SECR requires large and listed companies with over 250 employees and either a balance sheet of more than £18M or turnover of more than £36M to submit their annual carbon emissions data alongside their annual accounts.
